Structure of a procedural text

Procedural writing

I learning to write a instructions.  It was hard because  you had to write your instructions in order and number them.  I need to work on adding interesting punctuation

Reading the minutes have passed the hour on analogue clock

I have leant to tell the time.  It was tricky because I couldn't tell the time and I needed help.  I now know why it's not 8 minutes past because I have to count in my 5s.  I need to work on practising counting.

Identifying and explaining graphic features


I am learning about graphic features like pie chart and the colours related to the pie chart.
It was easy because all you had to do is understand the key and compare the size of the colours.  I need to work on understanding other graphic features like tables.

I have been learning to structure a recount.  It was tricky because you have to think a lot.  I need to work on writing a conclusion.


I have learned that when you reflect you need to make it the same on the other side.

Making inferences

I am learning to make inferences by figuring out clues from the story.  My next steps are to give specific evidence from the story to back up my inferences.

I am learning to split double digit numbers into tens and ones.  My next steps are to use my skip counting to add double digit numbers together.

My make believe land

I learned to look for full stops and how to edit my work.  Editing was hard because if you couldn't find the word you had to spell it out and underlining the right words.

Counting on and back using the number line

I am learning to con on the number line.  It's hard when sometimes when you count you get it wrong.  It's hard to know how many to count up and backwards.  The next thing for me is to learn to use the number line with bigger numbers.
